IMPRESSIVE McWINNERS
That was MCARACAS (McArdle-Smooth Latin N) again dominating
last weeks Diplomatic series at Woodbine in :51.4 by over
seven lengths following a sensational last to first debut
in which he won by 4 lengths in :52.3 after being 11 lengths
off at the half mile pole. This year’s Smooth Latin
N edition MATTISTA is by Royal Mattjesty.
McCardle’s biggest gun One More Laugh (McArdle-Fancy
Creek Funny) made it two for two in his qualifiers at The
Meadowlands tacking on identical :25.4 final quarters in
each.
One More Laugh, a winner of 1:49.3 at two was the Pennsylvania
freshman champion last year and should be a major factor
in the 3-year-old stakes in 2010. One More Laugh is slated
to make his 2010 debut in the Max Hempt memorial at Pocono
Downs.
McArdle’s own McGIBSON (Armbro Althea) was a fast
closing 3rd in the in the $237,000 Blue Chip Matchmaker
final at Yonkers.
Bookings remain available to McArdle at Lindwood Farms in
Pennsylvania
REVENUE
RESURGENCE
It was the Revenue filly QUITE POSSIBLE (Meadowbranch Mary)
the fastest of a trio of SCRANTON SERIES events for 3-year-old
trotting fillies winning in 1:55.4 at Pocono.
And at Saratoga NUMISMATIC (Revenue-Shooting Starlet) scored
in a Battle of Saratoga event.
And in the Mr Muscleman, at The Meadowlands R SAM (Revenue-Our
Samantha) made it five wins in his last six outings scoring
easily in 1:56.1
Revenue’s biggest gun BREAK THE BANK K (Revenue-American
Misty) one of the more impressive 2-year-olds from last
year has come back like gangbusters for Trond Smedshammer
and should be set to qualify before too long.
RECORD HANDLE
It was a record handle in New Jersey on Derby Day for the
runners that is though nobody’s talking about how
we did at the harness tracks.
Reportedly there was a more than a minor traffic jam exiting
The Meadowlands in the vicinity of 6:40PM some scant minutes
after the Derby was over.
Of course the harness post time at The Big M is 7PM so
obviously this crowd was not there for us.
Of course TVG didn’t get around to showing our first
race until 8:14 to be exact but that’s another matter.
Since the crowd is obviously there for the Derby festivities
one wonders if perhaps the live harness card should start
somewhere about 4PM and if the players already there can
be induced into wagering on something live.
Or perhaps they might not all be cascading down the exit
ramps following the Derby finale as we’d still have
some live races to available bet on.
Just a thought!
SUPER BOWL
So it’s almost a foregone conclusion that the replacement
for Giants Stadium now called Meadowlands stadium will be
hosting the Super Bowl in 2014.
According to sources, the South Florida venue is the least
likely being in need of renovation while Meadowlands stadium
has a substantial edge over Tampa Bay.
And why not, the new stadium is fantastic and Manhattan
sits maybe 8 miles to the east down route 3
Someone said they could host this media event in the Javits
center and that media event somewhere else in what’s
called the greatest city in the world.
What this does for New Jersey where the stadium happens
to reside is anybody’s guess.
Last year’s Super Bowl was staged in whatever they
call that facility adjacent to Calder Race Course on the
Dade-Broward border in Florida.
Of course all the festivities were held either in Fort
Lauderdale or Miami where the appropriate facilities are
located.
However, it was still Florida—not a different state!
But if a full fledged opulent Casino Hotel were on The
Meadowlands premises then many of the preliminary features
of Super Bowl week could be staged in New Jersey- where
the stadium is.
And that might mean something to the State of New Jersey-right
Guv?
